Every year Saipan, Tinian and Rota sponsor many annual cultural, sporting and cultural events that provide locals and tourists unlimited entertainment. April 19-22 – Annual Flame Tree Arts Festival

The Flame Tree Arts Festival is a popular even every year, and occurs in conjunction with the blooming of the Flame Trees all over Saipan! It is a celebration of local culture, with constant live performances from local dance groups and other artists, artist & other vendor booths, and of course delicious foods from vendors all over the island. The festival is traditionally held near Micro Beach in American Memorial Park. For more information, call (670) 322-9982

July 7- 14—-Annual Saipan International Fishing Tournament

OVER 50-90 participating teams from Guam, Tinian, Rota & Saipan are expected to compete in the 29th Annual Saipan International Fishing Tournament.

The entrance fee will be $150 per boat for captain and one crew and $25 for each additional angler.

The pre-registration will be held on Friday, July 12 from 5 p.m., to 6:30 p.m., at the Smiling Cove Marina where officials of the Saipan Fishermen’s Association will briefly go over rules and regulation of the tournament, and blessing of the boats.

18th Annual Golf Tournament of Champions
Over $300,000.00 in prizes!

The 18th Tournament of Champions will be played at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort’s East and West courses on Saturday, August 3, 2013 & Sunday, August 4, 2013.

Nov 16 2013/20th Annual Rota Blue Triathlon

Starting time for both distances is 6:30 a.m. at Rota’s East Harbor.    Wetsuits are permitted, while bike helmets are required.   Registration fees are $80.00 for A-type course solo competitors and $70.00 for each member in the team category. The fee for the B-type course is $100.00.    The entry fee includes an event t-shirt, high-quality swim cap, and an invitation to the awards banquet at the East Harbor.   Prizes: Men’s/Women’s Top Three & Categories.

The annual Rota Blue Triathlon is one of four major triathlon events held in the Northern Mariana Islands, joining the XTERRA Saipan Championship, Tagaman Triathlon, and the Tinian Turquoise Blue on the list.

12th Annual Christmas Celebration in the Marianas

The holiday season in the CNMI begins with a series of exciting events, designed to enthrall residents and visitors alike. Various floats from public/private schools, equipped with Christmas ornaments and decorations will make it’s way from the Carolinian Utt to the American Memorial Park (parking lot area).  In addition, various public/private schools, geared with recycled materials and costumes will also march along.

Jan /26/2013-6th Annual Marianas Coffee Trail Run

The course description will offer some of the greatest views, sites and challenging terrain for runners alike.   It will start at the American Memorial Park and will head up to the highest point of the island, Mt. Tapochao, into wild coffee plantation (new course), that will go around the highest of Saipan and will back to Microl Beach.

Feb/12-Mar 2/2013-21st Annual Marianas Cup Beach Volleyball Festival

Feb/16/2013-9th Annual Tinian Hot Pepper Festival

Ferry Details:

Round Trip price is $35; children 5 and under ride free.  All others pay full fare.  Fare includes up to 1 bicycle and any other luggage the passenger wants to take. Trip time is typically 1 ½ to 2 hours.  Seating availability is extremely limited so register and buy your ticket early. First come first served.

The annual celebration held in honor of donni sali, a small but potent hot pepper that is indigenous to the island, offers the perfect blend of island partying at the festival grounds and quiet escape at isolated beaches and backroads.

Activities at Kammer Beach will include cooking competitions, indigenous craft sales and live entertainment including cultural dances and Hapi The Clown.   Sample a variety of local dishes, catch the umang (hermit crab) races, join numerous sports activities (including beach volleyball and dragon boat races) or join the donni sali eating competition itself.

Mar/9/2013-31st Annual Micronesian Open Windsurfing Championships

An international fleet of windsurfers will be carving the surfs between the American Memorial Park and Managaha Island for the upcoming 31st Annual Micronesian Open Windsurfing Cup, set to sail on Saturday, March 9, 2013 & Sunday, March 10, 2013.

The Marianas Aqua Marine Sports, Seawind Marine Sports and the Hyatt Regency Hotel Saipan will be teaming up to host another edition of the longest running local Windsurfing event, which starts in the morning at 900 a.m. and continues though the next day at 4:00 p.m.

Mar/17/2013-5th Marianas Winds Kite Festival & Cultural Food Fair

Get ready, kite lovers.  Brilliant Star School will be hosting its 5th Marianas Winds Kite Festival & Cultural Food Fair on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 10:00a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the American Memorial Park, Central Ballfield.

The Marianas Winds Kite Festival & Cultural Food Fair is a family-oriented festival focusing on the kites and cuisines from around the world.  The Kite contest will feature three main events.

Purchased kites will be competing for the Most Whimsical, Most Beautiful, and Largest Kite awards.   Under the Hand Made category, there will be winners for Most Original, Most Beautiful and Smallest Kite.   Both purchased and hand-made kites will be competing for the Highest Flying and Longest Tail kite awards.

May/4/2013-Annual Taste of the Marianas International Food Festival & Beer Garden

The annual Festival is held annually at the American Memorial Park, every Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with the final night from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.  Different types of cuisine are readily available for the guest’s delight.  In addition, competitions such as cooking, bartending and others perked up the fair every night.

June/22/2013-13th Annual Tinian Turquoise Blue Triathlon & Reef Swim

The Marianas Visitors Authority, Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino, Tinian Mayor’s Office & the KFC Triathlon Club of Japan presents the 13th Annual Tinian Turquoise Blue Triathlon & Reef Swim

The annual Triathlon course consists of a 1.5-kilometer swim, 40-km bike ride, and 10-km run, while the Reef swim normally has three courses-a 1.5-km, a 3.0-km, and a 4.5-km swim.
